WHO WE ARE
The YMCA is a cause-driven organization focused on three key areas: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We believe a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. Our programs, services, and initiatives enable youth to realize their potential, offer families ways to have fun together, empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind, and body, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster social responsibility. The Moultrie Y strives daily to be the lead provider of Fitness, Family and Fun for ALL.
OUR MISSION
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Nurturing the potential of every child and teen.
The values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential.
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
Improving our community’s health and well-being.
Being healthy is about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind, and body. At the Y you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself with new activities, fostering connections with neighbors, or joining family-centered activities.
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence as a nonprofit. It is only through the support of hundreds of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to our communities.
THE GREATER JOHNSTOWN COMMUNITY YMCA
With over 150 years of service in the Johnstown community, the Greater Johnstown Community YMCA offers programs and services for ALL. Our building on Haynes St. has our 25-yard indoor pool, cardio room, strength training room, free weight room, Group Exercise classes, full-court basketball gym, 3 racquetball courts, and an indoor walking track.
The Y is located at 100 Haynes St., Johnstown PA. The Greater Johnstown Community YMCA started in a small building in downtown Johnstown in 1869. At the current location, built in 1979 and updated recently our Y is working to serve ALL by breaking down the barriers of time constraints and accessibility.
Volunteer at the Y
Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive personal and social change.
With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
At the Johnstown Y, volunteers are the foundation of what we do. Here are a few of our volunteer opportunities:
– Teaching swim safety through our SPLASH program.
– Teaching kids sports skills and life skills by coaching one of our Youth Sports Programs.
– Serving on a committee like the Christian Emphasis Committee, Membership Committee, Finance Committee, or others.
